HEAT-SHRINKABLE JOINTS FOR PLASTIC OR PAPER INSULATED
"NON-DRAINING" POWER CABLES UP TO 36 kV

APPLICATION

Heat-shrinkable joints KSTS are used for fast and reliable jointing of XLPE, PVC or EPR rubber single core or three core armoured or unarmoured cables for voltages up to 36 kV. Application of oil resistant separator (silicone tape) enables use of this joint for paper insulated "NON-DRAINING" cables (joint type KSTS-PI and transition joint type KSTS-XPI).
These joints are used in wide range of cross-sections, without making the cones on the insulation and after installation cable with joints may be put into the service immediately.
Using heat-shrinkable tube with inner adhesive layer, the complete sealing is ensured, so the joints may be laid into the ground. Quality of the joints is tested in H.V. laboratory according to IEC and VDE 0278 standard.

ELECTRICAL FIELD CONTROL

In order to decrease electrical field to the permissible value in the region of interrupts of semi-conducting layers, as well as conductor ferrule, the stress-grading pad, made of material with high permittivity is used. Applying dual-wall tube TSCEPSCX, electrical field control is improved by continuous pressure of inner EPR rubber to the grading pad and insulation surface, so that decreases possibility of appearance of the partial discharge strongly.

ADVANTAGES

  • Fast, reliable and cheap installation
  • Decreasing the time necessary for installation
  • No requirements for specially skilled jointers and special tools
  • Using only one oil resistance separation layer, joints can be also applicable to paper insulated ("NON-DRAINING") cables
  • Possibility of jointing the cables, made of various types of insulation, shape, and metal and conductor cross-sections
  • Small number of different heat-shrinkable tubes covers wide range of cable cross-sections
  • Quality and reliability are proved in the factory

Technical data for choice of joints, according to cable construction, are shown in the following table.

HEAT-SHRINKABLE TERMINATIONS FOR PLASTIC OR PAPER INSULATED
"NON-DRAINING" POWER CABLES UP TO 36 kV

APPLICATION

Heat-shrinkable terminations KZTU for indoor mounting and KZTS for outdoor mounting are used for fast and reliable terminating of XLPE, PVC or EPR rubber single core or three core, armoured or unarmoured cables for voltage up to 36 kV. Application of oil resistant separator (silicone tape) enables use of these terminations for paper insulated "NON-DRAINING" cables (indoor termination type KZTU-PI and outdoor termination type KZTS-PI). Indoor termination type KZTU is suitable for small "rooms". Outdoor terminations type KZTS require a proper number of insulating sheds, depending on the voltage level for longer creepage distance.

ELECTRICAL FIELD CONTROL

In order to decrease electrical field to the permissible value in the region of interrupts of semi-conducting layers, the stress-grading pad, made of material with high permittivity is used. Application dual-wall tube TSCEPSCX, electrical field control is improved by continuous pressure of inner EPR rubber to the grading pad and insulation surface, so that decreases strongly possibility of appearance of the partial discharge.

ADVANTAGES

  • Fast, reliable and cheap installation
  • Decreasing the time necessary for installation
  • No requirements for specially skilled jointers and special tools
  • Using only one oil resistance separation layer, terminations can be also applicable to paper insulated ("NON-DRAINING") cables
  • Small number of different heat-shrinkable tubes covers wide range of cable cross-sections
  • Quality and reliability are proved in the factory

Technical data for choice of terminations are done in the following table. Linear measures of terminations in the bracket refer to unarmoured cables. Number of insulating sheds for outdoor mounting for one core: 4 for 10 kV, 8 for 20 kV and 10 for 35 kV. Insulating sheds are not applied for voltage 1 kV.
