Primary Connector For Airfield Lighting

Primary Connector For Airfield Lighting
(Technical Characteristics)

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

DESIGN

The connector housings are moulded from synthetic elastomeric material serving both as insulation and sheath to fully enclose the pins and sockets of connectors. The material is suitable for direct earth burial, submergence in water, and capable of withstanding limited chemical, oil, or gasoline attach. The connector housings are withstands exposure to direct sunlight and to ozone. The connectors are designed for continuous use within a temperature range of - 40°C to + 65°C while exposed to weather, submerged in water, or buried in the earth.

The pins and sockets are designed to conform to the dimensional and construction requirements as indicates on the applicable figure of FAA L-823. Pins and sockets are made of materials that contain at least 98 percent cooper. The pin and socket are electro-plated with nickel to provide good electrical contact. The sockets are slotted and spring loaded to insure good electrical contact.

The main characteristics shall be equal to or better than those given in table below.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

Rated voltage 5 kV
Resistance between conductor of one pair connectors and water, after 24 hours in a tap water bath at room temperature, 20-25 °C, measured with 500 V source. >25 GOhm
Resistance between conductor of one pair connectors and water, after 24 hours in a tap water bath at room temperature, 20-25 °C, and manually flexed for minutes measured with 500 V source. >25 GOhm
Test voltage, 5 minutes 15 kV
Resistance between conductor of one pair connectors and water, after 24 hours in a tap water bath at room temperature, 20-25 °C, and 1 hour at 65 °C, measured with 500 V source. >10 GOHm
Voltage drop across mated connectors <7,5 mV

REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSEMBLIES

These kits shall only be assembled by skilled technicians, supervised by a specialist to ensure their electrical, mechanical and watertightness properties reach the expected standards. For connection accessories using nature rubber, the shelf life, storage and use temperatures shall not be exceeded.

ORDERING DATA

MOULDED PLUGS AND RECEPTACLES

Ordering data masts include:

- The type of cables
- Cross section
- Long
- One end of the cable: plug or receptacle
- The other end: either receptacle or plug or free.

CONNECTOR KITS

The type will be determined according to the data mentioned in the Table; state if cable is screened or unscreened. In case of screened cable, our supply will include the special connector kit with earth wire with earth contact tube.
If cables being spliced are of different dimensions you need the O.D. of both cables.
If cables are of different dimensions you find in Table, you need give us information or sample.
